We aim to transcend boundaries by creating and nurturing safer spaces.

NightGuides is an awareness initiative, focusing on nurturing and creating safer spaces throughout the nightlife scene in the Netherlands; founded by a transfemme who noticed the communal lack of safer spaces, rising tensions, and polarisation.

We are a queer, freelance awareness team praised for our refreshing and professional approach by all of our partners, security teams, and EHBO officials we have collaborated with.

An awareness team is a designated crew on the floor to help the crowd and raise awareness concerning club and behaviour ethics. We make people aware of our house rules and assist in any cases of misconduct, harassment, or drug misuse.

Why have an awareness team?

Almost everyone who loves going out has experienced how harassment, bad trips, or rude behavior from other guests can ruin an amazing night. These potentially traumatic experiences cause many to feel unsafe at events and choose to stay home instead. Such experiences can also create a bad reputation for clubs or events which prevents guests from coming back in the future.

For event staff, it can be difficult to keep an eye on things among their main responsibilities. Creating a safer party environment is not something anyone can do successfully whilst also pouring drinks, managing artists, or manning the door. What is needed is an experienced, designated team that is on the floor with the guests. The Nightguides awareness team does exactly that.

Awareness is needed.

Every shift we are gently reminded how crucial awareness can be.

We are often approached by grateful guests who are thankful for our assistance; especially in moments where they need us the most.

All of the organizers/venues or security that we have worked with have always been so appreciative of our help. We help assist and care for guests as we aim to provide a safer night out experience for everyone.

Let’s see the numbers.

We assisted with 339 cases over 54 events. On average we handle 6 cases a night, half of these cases are heavier (harassment, sexual assault, substance abuse, discrimination).

54 events from 2023 until 2025 september
